Hot take: locking diffs are overrated for 90 percent of builds and I am tired of pretending otherwise
Three years ago I watched a guy in the Ocala National Forest dump $2,200 into air lockers for a truck that only ever sees Florida sand and forest roads. Last month he got stuck on a wet clay hill that my open diff rig walked right up because he never learned to pick a line and his lockers just dug him in deeper. So what is the actual argument for dropping that kind of money when most folks would get more out of a $300 winch and some seat time?
$2,200 in air lockers for Florida sand and forest roads is wild, that money could have bought a winch, recovery gear, and a few tanks of gas. The lockers just dug him in deeper because he never learned the basics.
