AI recipe apps are stripping all the fun from my kitchen

I tried one of those AI meal planners last month, and it turned dinner into a chore. It spat out a recipe for chicken stew with exact times and measurements. My pot is smaller than most, so things boiled over and made a mess. The flavors were flat, like the app just threw spices together without knowing how they blend. Cooking used to be my escape, but now it feels like ticking boxes for a machine. I miss flipping through my mom's handwritten cards where she'd scribble 'add more garlic if you like'. Sure, AI can mix ingredients, but it has no heart. I'm tossing the app and keeping my messy, joyful cooking ways.

Actually, those apps save my butt on busy weeknights.

I get that they "save your butt" in terms of deciding what to eat... but here's the thing, they don't really save me time. All that chopping and prepping they send you... it adds up to like 30-45 minutes some nights. By the time I'm done washing the dishes too, I could have just made something simple. The real problem is just not having a plan at all.

Same thing happened to me. I started doing all the veggie chopping for the week on Sunday night, just storing them in containers. Cuts the nightly prep down to like 10 minutes.
