One sharp critique on my chatbot tone doubled user retention

A tester said my AI support bot sounded like a robot reading a warranty, so I rewrote the prompts to be shorter and add plain words like 'let me check' instead of 'verifying data'. Took about 3 weeks to see the numbers go from 28% to 61% returning users, has anyone else gotten feedback that totally flipped their bot's personality?
