Hot take: A 19-year-old A&P student made me rethink how I torque bolts

I was bitching about torque wrenches to this kid fresh out of school and he just said 'you ever check yours against a reference lately?' Hit me that I've been using the same Snap-on for 8 years without a calibration check. Anyone else guilty of just trusting your old tools way too long?

Same thing happened to me with a tire gauge I'd been using for 5 years. Borrowed my buddy's digital one and mine was off by 4 psi the whole time. Makes you wonder what else we're just assuming is still good after all these years.

Never thought about stuff drifting like that, but you're absolutely right. Changed my whole view on tools.
