Old timers were right about safety wire, torque specs are not suggestions
Training a new guy at the hangar in Tulsa last month, he wanted to skip the lockwire on a fuel drain because 'it's just a check valve.' That part came loose on a run-up 3 days later. I've been doing this since 1998 and the shortcuts people take now to save 10 minutes scare me. Has anyone else noticed the younger guys pushing back on basic AD compliance just because the paperwork is a pain?
