Back when we set up a 16-zone panel in 2004 with nothing but a toner and a prayer
I was in a crawlspace in Grand Rapids last week fishing wire for a 16-zone panel and it hit me how soft the job has gotten. Back in 2004 we did the same kind of house with a toner and a label maker, no phone app to walk us through zone by zone. Last month I pulled a keypad out of a house and the homeowner asked why I could not just add it to the WiFi like her doorbell. Fifteen years ago nobody blinked at a 3-hour wire pull, now they expect it done before lunch. Anybody else still keep a toner in the van just in case the fancy gear flakes out?
