Hit 60 days with my countertop bin and not a single fruit fly in sight.

I was convinced the 'no smell' claim was a lie until my partner, who hates any weird kitchen smells, walked in and said 'it just smells like dirt' for the first time this morning.

Dirt is a weird smell to aim for, but it's definitely better than rotting food. That earthy scent is probably just the carbon filter doing its job. It's not truly 'no smell', it's more like a neutral, clean smell.

Isn't it funny how we all end up accepting a weird "clean" smell instead of the bad one? Like swapping one problem for a less annoying one.

My old apartment had a carbon filter that smelled like wet dog, honestly. I mean, dirt would have been an upgrade.
