Showerthought: a $12 thermostat fixed a dryer in Kalamazoo that two of us had already written off
Had a dryer call last Tuesday in Kalamazoo, old Whirlpool, and the thing would run for maybe 4 minutes then just quit. I checked the vent, the blower, the motor windings, all of it looked fine, and I was about to tell the lady it needed a new board. On a hunch I ohm'd out the cycling thermostat and it read open at room temp when it should have been closed, so I swapped in a $12 part from my van. Dryer ran a full 45 minute cycle with no issues and she hugged me at the door. Anybody else keep a stash of those cheap stats on the truck just in case?
