Debate: Should we fully reconstruct ruins or leave them as they fell?

I was at the Roman forum in Rome last spring and saw a section where they had rebuilt a column exactly as it would have looked. But right next to it was a pile of broken marble chunks just sitting there untouched. Which approach teaches us more about history, the perfect replica or the raw collapse?

Did you mean the Roman Forum, not the Roman forum?

Oh wow, that actually reminds me of a trip I took to Rome a few years back! I walked around the Forum for like three hours and still couldn't find where Julius Caesar got stabbed. Got some great photos of the stray cats though, they basically run the place.
