I thought the "ancient" copper pendant I dug up in my backyard was a lawnmower part for 2 months
I found a small copper pendant in my backyard in Dayton last spring and tossed it in a junk drawer thinking it was some old hardware from a mower. A friend who works at the local museum took one look at the green patina and told me to send photos to a state archaeologist, who confirmed it was a Late Woodland copper ornament likely traded from the Great Lakes region. Now I want to know, do you all think random backyard finds like this are worth reporting, or does it just create paperwork for everyone involved?
