One week where everything went right on a deck job in Portland

I had this deck rebuild in the Pearl District last month. The homeowner wanted a specific cedar that was backordered everywhere. I called 8 lumber yards and one had 12 boards left from a cancelled order. Then the rain held off for 5 straight days which never happens there. I finished two days early and the client tipped me $200. Has anyone else had a project that just lined up perfectly like that?

I heard from a guy down at the lumber yard that finding that specific cedar is like finding a needle in a haystack right now. Sounds like you Really got lucky with that cancelled order.

Did you read that article in the trade journal about the western cedar shortage too? @adams.vera, that cancelled order find is definitely a huge score right now.
