Just realized my telescope pics are missing what my neighbor sees by eye

I was comparing my 15 minute stacked shot of M42 with my neighbor's quick sketch he did at the eyepiece, and he pointed out how the core looks blown out in mine. He said the real view has that soft green tint and you can see the dark lanes cutting through, which my processing totally washed out. Does anyone else feel like we're chasing detail and losing the actual look of the sky?

My last stacked image of M42 looked like a glowing cotton ball on fire, so I feel the pain. Some of us process until the target looks like a science experiment instead of something youd actually see through the glass. Guess I'll keep my blown out core and take the L on realism.
