Just realized the $38 gutter guards from the big box store were a total waste next to the $120 custom ones
We live in Marietta under a bunch of old oaks and pine trees, so every fall our gutters get packed with pine straw and leaves. Two years ago I grabbed the cheap snap in gutter guards from a big box store for about $38 a box and spent a whole Saturday putting them up. Fast forward to last spring, water was still pouring over the edge during storms, so I pulled a section down and found the pine needles had slid right under the lip and jammed everything up worse than no guards at all. Paid a local guy $120 to make custom aluminum covers that tuck under the shingle and clip to the front lip, and I have not touched them since. Anyone else here deal with pine straw wrecking their cheap gutter setup, and did you go custom or just give up and clean them twice a year?
