Vent: getting a variance from Cobb County for my fence took 11 weeks, not the 3 I planned for
I put up a 6 foot privacy fence along the back of my lot in Smyrna back in April, thinking the permit would be a quick online thing. Turns out my lot sits in a flood plain overlay, so I needed a variance, a survey, and a hearing in front of the zoning board. Eleven weeks and $850 later I finally got approved, and my neighbors had already complained twice about the half finished posts. If you are in a flood zone, call the county planning office before you buy a single panel, has anyone else dealt with the Cobb County board?
