PSA: Stop sanding body filler with 80 grit first, it's why you keep seeing scratch marks under paint
I was helping a kid at the shop in Bakersfield last Tuesday and watched him hit fresh filler with 80 grit on a DA, which left gouges that no amount of primer was gonna hide. I learned the hard way on a '68 Chevelle quarter panel that starting at 80 just makes more work, because you gotta sand out your own scratches with 180 and 320 anyway. Anyone else got a grit progression they swear by for filler, or am I the only one who wasted a whole afternoon on this?
