Finally hit $10k in core charge credits sitting in my back room and I'm sick about it
Just added it up after a slow Tuesday at the shop and I've got $10,240 in core charges I never sent back, mostly starters and alternators stacked behind the parts washer. That's real money I already paid out and just let rot back there. Any of you got a system that actually works for sending cores back before they pile up?

Three years ago I found a reman alternator behind the shop fridge that had been back there so long the box had molded to the shelf. I named him Wilson and he stayed another six months. Now I keep a milk crate by the back door and any core that comes in goes straight in it, no exceptions. When the crate is full, usually about eight or nine cores, it rides up front in the truck and goes back on my next parts run. Sounds dumb simple but it's the only thing that has ever worked for me. The key is never letting a core touch the floor, because once it hits the floor it's furniture.
