The $17 headlight restore kit that fixed my 2005 Tacoma in 20 minutes

My buddy roasts me that my truck runs fine but looks like it has cataracts, so I finally grabbed that cheap kit from the parts store. After wet sanding with 400 then 2000 grit and wiping on the spray coat, the plastic went from foggy yellow to crystal clear. It was weird, same lights that looked useless actually put out a decent beam once the haze was gone. I even checked the alignment after and found the passenger side was 3 inches low from a pothole hit last winter. Anyone else ever make a big visibility leap from just a cheap polish job, or is this one of those fixes that never sticks?

That "cataracts" line cracked me up, but I'm calling it now. That crystal clear look is just the spray coat wearing off in a month, and you'll be back to sanding fog before summer. The beam probably felt better because you finally aimed it right, not because the plastic was the real problem.
