Got caught in a hail storm above treeline on the Maroon Bells loop last August
We hit the pass around 2pm and the sky turned green out of nowhere, and we had to hunker under a rock slab for 40 minutes while pea sized hail pelted us. Now I plan every high pass before noon no matter how good the forecast looks. What's your cutoff time for getting over a pass on a summer trip?
