Appreciation post: the 80 year old guy at the shop on Mott Street still uses a straight razor for every lineup
Stopped by a tiny shop in Chinatown NYC while visiting my sister and watched this barber who has been cutting since he was 15 do a lineup with a straight razor and no guard. He does maybe 3 passes where most of us grab the trimmer once and call it done. I asked how long it takes to get that steady and he just laughed and pointed at the floor tiles, worn down in a curve from him standing in the same spot for decades. Anyone else got an old timer in their area still doing it the slow way, or is that fading out everywhere?
