Had to defend my clipper cleaning routine at the barber meetup in Chicago
I went to that barber meetup in Chicago last weekend and got into it with a few guys over sanitizing your tools between every single client. They were all saying just a quick spray of alcohol is fine and doing the whole disassembly thing takes too long when you have a packed chair. Ngl, I felt like I was the only one there who actually takes my clippers apart every couple cuts to brush out all the hair and oil the blades proper. I saw one guy's clippers with hair caked so deep you could barely see the blade teeth and he was bragging about how fast he works. I tried to explain that if you don't keep the insides clean, you're just passing along bacteria and skin flakes from one person to another. They looked at me like I was crazy. Honestly, has anyone else dealt with other barbers acting like you're being extra for doing basic hygiene?

Changed my mind on this after my husband picked up a nasty skin infection from a chain barbershop last year... now I'm the one pulling out tweezers to get hair out of blade crevices. You're not being extra, some guys just don't realize the buildup can actually cause rust and dulling way faster than just a quick spray.
