Spent $300 on a Wahl Cordless Senior that died after 5 months, feeling dumb

Honestly I finally hit 50 regulars last month and wanted to treat myself, so I grabbed the Wahl Cordless Senior after a guy at the Phoenix barber show swore by it. Five months in and the battery won't hold a charge past 20 minutes of fades, and Wahl support told me it's "normal wear" so no replacement. My $60 Magic Clip from 2021 is still running fine, so I don't get the hype at all. Anyone here actually get a cordless clipper to last past a year without babying it?
