Rant: passed on the $150 coffee table at Goodwill for 3 weeks, then someone else grabbed it and I felt dumb
I walked past this solid wood coffee table at the Goodwill on my street every Tuesday for 21 days. It was $150, which felt steep for a thrift store, so I kept telling myself I would grab it next trip, and I even measured my couch twice to be sure it would fit. Fourth trip it was gone, and the cashier said a guy bought it 20 minutes before I walked in and he didn't even haggle. Funny part is I later saw a nearly identical table at a flea market tagged at $420, so my whole "too pricey" logic was backwards. I guess I was treating thrift stores like a clearance rack when really the good stuff moves fast and the prices are still way under retail. Has anyone else lost out on a piece because you sat on it too long, and do you just buy on sight now?
