I finally tried that weird chain waxing method from that old forum thread

Always thought it was a total waste of time compared to just using good oil. But after my buddy's gravel bike ran silent for a whole 300 mile trip through Moab, I had to test it. Did the full strip and melt process on my own commuter. The chain is SO quiet now and my hands stay clean. Has anyone else actually stuck with waxing long term, or does the hassle get old?

That quiet chain is nice for a bit. The hassle gets old fast though. Had to re-wax after one wet ride last spring. Just went back to a good drip oil. Clean hands are cool but not worth the extra work.

Totally feel that. Wax is a pain for sure, my chain got so loud after a little rain.
