I finally admitted my $2,300 truck repair mistake after 4 months of lying to myself
Blew a head gasket on my 2006 Silverado outside Flagstaff in March. Mechanic quoted $2,300 and I said no way, watched 6 YouTube videos, and did it myself in my driveway over 3 weekends. Truck ran for 11 days then started knocking, turns out I didn't torque the head bolts in the right sequence and warped the block. Cost me $4,100 to fix my own mistake plus the $340 in parts I threw away. Anyone else ever tried to save cash on a repair and ended up way worse off?
