My friend swore by that 9 season police drama, I lasted 4 episodes

Honestly, my buddy Jake in Chicago kept pushing this one cop show on me. He said the first season was slow but by episode 6 I'd be hooked, no way I'd put it down. Ngl, I made it through 4 episodes across 3 nights and I was done. The dialogue felt so fake and every case got solved way too neat, like 20 minutes with zero mess. I told him and he got kinda defensive, said I skipped the good parts. Has anyone else had a friend hype a show that just fell totally flat for you?

...and honestly that sounds about right. I read somewhere that most cop shows are written by people who never actually talked to a real detective, and it shows. The whole "wrap it up in one episode" thing kills me too, like real cases take months and half of them never get solved. My sister tried to get me into that same type of show last year, said the character growth was amazing. I got through way more episodes than you did just out of guilt, and the only growth I saw was my patience wearing thinner. Sometimes a friend's taste is just a mystery you don't need to solve.
