TV used to be an event, now it's just content

I remember waiting all week for the next episode of my favorite show. We'd talk about it with friends, guess what might happen next. Now I just crush a whole season in one sitting. It feels empty, like I'm checking a box. Slow down with the good ones or you'll forget why you liked them in the first place.

Actually, I kinda disagree that the shared moment is totally gone. Like @mark894 said about theme songs, but now we have online chats and live reactions. When 'The Last of Us' aired weekly, my group chat blew up every Sunday. It's different, but the buzz is still there if you look for it. Maybe the ritual changed more than it vanished.

Try watching weekly even when the whole season's out.

You hit on something big with the social piece. Remember when a show's theme song would play and everyone in the house would stop? That shared moment is GONE. Now I'm watching alone with headphones on, and the show just bleeds into the next one auto-played. We've lost the ritual that made it special.
