Tried pressing signatures with wax paper instead of my usual release board, 9 out of 10 came out clean
I ran out of silicone release paper on a rebind project Monday night and grabbed a sheet of wax paper from the kitchen drawer as a stand in. The first two signatures stuck a little at the spine fold, but once I dropped my press pressure down a notch the rest came off the board with no tearing at all. What got me was how clean the grain looked compared to my normal setup, the wax left almost no texture on the end sheets. I did lose one signature where the wax bunched up near the sewing holes. Curious if anyone else has messed with wax paper for pressing, or if there is a reason I should not keep doing this.
