My monstera's root ball turned to mush after I moved it to a sunnier corner
I moved my monstera from a north window to a west one back in March, thinking it needed more light. Two weeks later the bottom leaves went yellow and the soil stayed wet no matter what I did. When I pulled it out of the pot, the roots were brown and soft and smelled like swamp. I cut off about 60% of the root mass, let it dry on the kitchen counter for 4 hours, and repotted in a chunky mix with orchid bark and perlite. Now I'm second guessing if a west window in Philly is too much afternoon sun for it, so if anyone grows theirs near a west facing window I'd like to hear how yours handles it.
