Question about old seed swapping meets versus online plant groups.

Some folks love the convenience of online groups, but I miss the personal touch of local seed swaps, what's your take?

But what about all the cool plants you can only get online? With local swaps, you're stuck with whatever folks nearby have, but online opens up the whole world. I looked for a purple carrot variety for ages at meets, then found it in a Facebook group from Australia. No need to travel or work around someone else's schedule. You can ask for advice at midnight if you want. The personal touch is nice, but convenience and variety win for me.

Purple carrots are cool but seeds from Australia might not even sprout here. Local swaps give you stuff proven to work in your dirt. You can't replace seeing a plant grown in your own town.

You say convenience and variety win, but that misses the point. At local swaps, you get advice from people who actually know your soil and weather. Online, seeds from Australia might not even grow in your backyard, and you have no one to ask for help. Learning face to face helps you avoid big mistakes that can waste a whole season. The community you build is worth more than midnight scrolling on Facebook. Plus, swapping seeds in person means you know they're fresh and tested in your area.
