Bought a $12 screen protector for my tablet in Reno, it cracked the day after I put it on and I finally figured out why
I picked up a cheap glass screen protector at a kiosk in the Reno mall a couple months back for $12. The guy there said it was the same as the name brand ones, just without the logo. I put it on that night, real careful, no bubbles. Next morning I set my tablet on the kitchen counter and it slid maybe three inches onto the tile. Screen protector cracked right down the middle. I was mad at the kiosk guy, but then I looked closer and the actual tablet glass was fine. Here's the thing people keep missing: these cheap protectors are way thinner than they look, usually under 0.2mm, so they crack easy but that's kind of the point. The protector took the hit and saved my $300 tablet. I know because I've cracked two of these now and never once cracked the real screen. So yeah, they break fast, but they're doing their job. Anyone else had one of these cheap protectors crack and then realize it actually saved your device?
