PSA: my January electric bill dropped from $287 to $94 after I stopped running the furnace fan all day
I keep seeing folks in here say to leave the fan on low around the clock for even heat. I did that for two winters in my 1940s cape in Nashua. Then my neighbor who does HVAC work asked why my blower was running at 11pm with the burner off. Told him it was for air flow. He laughed.
I set the fan to auto and turned the thermostat down 2 degrees at night. Three months later the bill was $94. Same house, same windows I still have to plastic every fall. The fan motor pulls real watts even when no heat is being made.
Is there anyone here who actually swears by constant fan and has the bills to back it up? I'd like to know what I'm missing.
