Wrote off the french press for 3 years, then a power outage in Tulsa changed my mind
I got a french press as a gift back in 2021 and used it twice before deciding it made muddy, bitter cups, so it sat in the cabinet while I stuck with my pour over. Then a storm knocked out power for 9 hours last Friday and my gooseneck kettle and scale were both useless, so I dug the press out and brewed 30 grams coarse with water straight off the stove. Left it alone for a full 4 minutes before pressing and it came out sweet and clean, nothing like what I remembered. Turns out I was grinding too fine and pressing way too early the first time around. Anyone else go back to gear they swore off and eat their words?
