Bought a $300 laser level 2 years ago and it sits in the case more than it gets used
That triple beam setup seemed like a good investment for foundation work but half the time the sun washes out the lines and I still grab my old string line and level, so has anyone else found laser levels to be more hassle than they're worth for outdoor jobs?

Man that sun washout issue is real, I've got a green beam one that's supposed to be brighter but on a sunny day it's basically a faint glow. Ended up using the laser level for setting up forms in the basement or garage where it's dark enough to actually see the line, but for anything outside I'm still running mason line and pulling a tape measure. Even with the receiver that beeps at you it's just extra setup time and batteries to mess with. Feels like half the time I'm fighting the technology instead of just getting the work done with a string and a bubble.
