Shoutout to the old timer in Dayton who swore by soaking bricks before laying them
I figured wetting bricks was just old school busywork until we hit 96 degrees on a job in Dayton last June and my mortar started setting up before I could even tap the brick level. He had me dunk each one in a bucket for a few seconds and the difference was night and day, the mortar actually grabbed and stayed workable way longer. Any of you soak yours in summer or do you just deal with the fast set some other way?
