My sister asked to see my journal and I almost said no, then she said one thing that made me hand it over
I have kept my bullet journal private for almost 4 years now. Nobody reads it, not my husband, not my best friend from college. Last Saturday my sister was visiting me here in Sacramento and she saw it sitting on the coffee table and asked if she could flip through it. My gut said no right away because I use mine for brain dumps and half finished lists and honestly some ugly pages. But she said something that stuck with me. She said she wanted to see it because her therapist told her that tracking stuff on paper helps with anxiety and she had no idea where to start. That hit different because I have been using mine for years without ever thinking about why it works. I handed it over and watched her flip past my messy October spreads and my grocery lists and she did not judge any of it. She asked if I would sit with her and set up her first few pages. We spent 2 hours at my kitchen table with her picking a cheap notebook and figuring out what she actually needed to track. Now I am wondering how many other people I know would benefit from this and I just never brought it up. Has anyone here ever helped a friend or family member start their first journal, and how did you keep it simple for them?
