A 22-year installer in Fort Wayne asked why I still use a cheap toner, and I didn't have a good answer
Was wrapping up a 6-drop job last week and the old timer training the new kid asked why I still tone every line by hand instead of trusting the tester at the panel. He said "the meter tells you what it sees, the toner tells you what's actually there," and I've been chewing on that for 4 days now. I've been doing this 8 years and never had a clean way to explain it, but he put it in one sentence. How do you all explain it when the new guys ask why we double check?
