Old timer in Bakersfield said I should stop running my drop wire through the crawlspace
Was roughing in a place out near Oildale and a 62 year old installer told me he quit fishing lines through crawlspaces back in 2019 after pulling a run through 8 inches of standing water. Said he runs everything through the attic now even when it means 40 more feet of cable. Anyone else made that swap or am I overthinking one guy's opinion?
Man, that crawlspace water thing hits home. I once crawled under a house in Delano after a big rain and came out looking like a mud monster, my boots literally made a squish sound with every step. Spent the next hour trying to explain to the homeowner why her carpet smelled like a swamp. That old timer might be onto something, because 40 extra feet of cable is way cheaper than a tetanus shot.
