Hit 14 months waiting on my SSDI appeal and I honestly thought the number would feel different
So I checked my online portal last week and it says 14 months since I filed my reconsideration appeal, which is longer than the 12 months everyone at the Fresno office told me to expect. I keep a little notebook where I mark off every month, and hitting that 14th mark felt weird because I had built up this idea in my head that once I passed a year it would be close. It is not close. The status still just says pending review with no hearing date. My lawyer said the average wait for a hearing in our region is running around 15 to 18 months right now, so I guess I am almost to the front of whatever line exists. What surprised me is that the number itself did not make me feel better or worse, it just made the whole thing feel more real. I have been living on my wife's income and some help from her parents this whole time and the math is getting tight. For anyone who has been through a hearing, did the wait time before yours match what the portal showed, or did it jump around on you?
