Lost $150 to a 'disability parking permit' service scam

Back in March I paid $150 to some online service that promised to fast-track my CA disabled parking placard renewal. They took my info and card, then ghosted me for 2 weeks. Turns out the DMV does this for free, I just needed my doctor's form. I filed a chargeback with my bank and got the money back, but the hassle was unreal. Lesson learned, never pay a middleman for something the state handles directly. Has anyone else almost fallen for these sites?
