My $12 headlamp died on the second night at Grayson Highlands and a guy in the next site handed me his backup
Went camping at Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia two weekends ago and my cheap headlamp quit right as I was digging for my stove in the dark. Dude two sites over heard me cussing and walked over with a spare Black Diamond he said he always packs because a dead light ruined his trip to Shenandoah in 2019. Got me thinking about how people review headlamps mostly on brightness, not on whether the switch survives a cold night. What is your actual field test for a light before you trust it on a real trip?
