The day a career fair rejection letter became my best lesson
Back in 2017, I went to a career fair in Columbus and got turned down by every single company there. It was brutal, about 14 tables and 14 nos, including one recruiter who told me my resume looked like a grocery list. I was so frustrated that week that I almost gave up on the whole field. But one HR lady at a small insurance firm pulled me aside and said, "You're selling your skills like they're chores, not wins." She spent 10 minutes showing me how to reframe my bullet points with numbers and outcomes. I redid my resume that weekend and got 3 callbacks within two weeks. Has anyone else gotten better advice from a rejection than from an acceptance? What did you change after that?
