Unpopular opinion: the 2 week coding bootcamp I did was worth more than my 4 year degree
I finished a computer science degree in 2019 with $38k in loans and couldn't get a single call back for 6 months. Last spring I did a 2 week bootcamp in Austin focused just on SQL and Python for data work, and I had 3 job offers within a month. The degree taught me theory I never use, but the bootcamp made me practice the exact stuff employers actually test you on. My first paycheck at the new job was $6,200 a month, which is more than double what I was making before. Anyone else feel like college is just a really expensive way to delay learning the real skills?
Oh man, I feel this so hard. I wasted so much time and money on classes that never once came up in a real interview. Glad you found something that actually worked for you.
