Why does nobody talk about informational interviews at small firms?
Last spring I cold-emailed a two person architecture studio in Portland, just asking for 15 minutes. The owner actually said yes, and we talked for over an hour about how he bids on projects under $50k, which is way different than the big firm stuff I learned in school. He showed me his actual cost sheet and told me, "Your degree teaches you design, not how to keep the lights on." That one chat made me rethink my whole job search strategy, so has anyone else gotten useful info from a small business owner like that? What was the best question you asked?
