Workplace communication classes changed how I run team standups

Our manager made us take a four week communication course at the Austin office last spring, and I thought it was a waste. Now I use the 'state intent first' trick before every standup, and people actually stop talking over each other. Anyone else try a similar tactic that sounded silly but worked?

Try it in meetings with loud talkers, watch them actually pause for once.

Quiet works on chatty coworkers every time, @jade738. Silence is louder than any words anyway.
