Just realized my old way of sharpening chisels was costing me time and finish quality.
I switched from a basic oil stone to a two-sided diamond plate three months ago, and the edge now holds for a whole week of heavy use instead of needing a touch-up every day. Anyone have a favorite angle guide they'd recommend for keeping it consistent?

Yeah, that's the game changer right there. I was using a cheap honing guide that never quite fit right, always left a tiny bevel. Switched to a simple magnetic block that holds the chisel at 25 degrees, and bam, no more guesswork. My edges go from rough to scary sharp in like two minutes flat. It's crazy how much time I wasted before.

Tell me more about your old sharpening method. Were you using a jig or trying to hold the angle freehand on that oil stone? I found my biggest jump in consistency came from locking down my wrist position, not just the tool itself.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy Dave. He was fighting with a cheap whetstone for years, always complaining his chisels went dull after one project. He finally got a basic angle guide, the kind that clamps on, and it was like a light switched on. His edges last ten times longer now just because he isn't wobbling all over the place. That consistency is everything.
