PSA: My appraisal came in $85k lower than the Zillow estimate I was counting on.
The lender's appraiser said the 'Zestimate' didn't account for the outdated kitchen and single-pane windows, which completely wrecked my cash-out amount for the deck addition.

Zillow's algorithm missed my neighbor's cracked foundation too.

Cracked foundation is no joke. My old landlord tried to hide a sinking slab with a rug and some potted plants.

My cousin bought a house last year where the Zillow estimate was off by almost 80 grand because of water damage they didn't catch. These algorithms are basically just guessing based on square footage and paint color.
