Had to choose between $4 canned beans or $12 dried heirlooms, the cheap bag won me over
Last month at the Asian market on 82nd Ave, I stood there holding two bags of beans. One was the usual canned pinto for $4 for a 6 pack, the other was this fancy dried heirloom mix for $12. I almost grabbed the heirlooms because they looked pretty in the bag. But I went with the cheap ones cause I have three kids and a tight grocery week. Honestly, after soaking them overnight and adding some onion and a bay leaf, they turned out creamy and perfect for burritos. I saved $8 and had enough for two meals. Has anyone else noticed dried beans taste way better than canned even when you buy the budget kind? What's your go to cheap bean brand?
