Update: my grocery total dropped to $47 a week for 3 people and I'm kind of mad it took this long
So I started tracking every grocery run back in April, mostly because my husband kept saying we were bleeding money and I didn't believe him. First month average came out to $189 a week for the 3 of us, which honestly made me feel sick. I started doing dried beans instead of cans, whole chickens instead of the cut up packs, and shopping the marked down meat bin at the Kroger on Tuesday mornings. Last week the total was $47.12 and I just stood in the kitchen staring at the receipt. The weird part is nobody noticed a difference at dinner, my kid even asked for seconds on the bean soup. The big thing was I stopped buying stuff for meals I never actually cook, like that bag of kale I buy every single time. Now I want to know what the marked down schedule is at other stores, does your store have a day where the meat gets stickered?
