Guy at the Cleveland market charged me $14 for a dry pork sandwich and the line was 30 deep
I was in Cleveland over the weekend at the West Side Market and stopped at a stand that had a line wrapped around the corner. Stood there for 25 minutes for a pork sandwich that came out dry as a brick, no sauce, and the guy running the flat top never once looked at a thermometer. Here is my thing: a place can survive on reputation for a while, but a line out the door does not mean the food is good, it means the marketing worked. I have run a grill station for 9 years and I can tell you the guy next to me at the next stall had half the line and pork that fell apart with a fork. If you are cooking in front of paying people, the sandwich is the whole pitch, not the sign. What is the worst food you have waited way too long for at a spot everyone swears by?
