Overheard a line cook say he never changes his gloves between raw chicken and veggies

I was grabbing takeout from a new spot downtown last Thursday and heard a guy in the back tell the new kid he doesn't bother swapping gloves between prepping raw chicken and chopping onions. Said it 'saves time and the heat kills everything anyway.' That stuck with me all night. Anyone else ever catch something like this at a place you'd normally trust?

Heard a similar thing from my friend Sarah who used to work at a popular pizza chain back in college. She told me the head cook would wipe his cutting board with a damp rag between handling raw dough and prepping pepperoni, never washed his hands once. She said he'd get mad if anyone called him out on it, claimed the oven heat killed all the germs anyway. I stopped going there after she told me that, even though I loved their pies. It's wild how some people in kitchens just don't get that cross contamination is real and nasty.

@angela43 That damp rag thing reminds me of a buddy who swore wiping chicken juice off the counter with a towel was fine.
